Obviously being on the app means you can recognize all the abnormalities that come with being under Retrospec's thumb and living in a weird unstable space where fruits suddenly start smiling and dancing
And horses become replaced by giant birds
But once you're off the app, you go right back to being clueless about everything
You won't even be able to remember that the app exists
Much less the probable truth that everyone on this app and maybe even everyone in this town is a specimen preserved from other worlds that have already been destroyed
Your friends won't be able to talk to you about important stuff the same way anymore
And in fact you'll only seem like a shadow of your former self

So the... app itself is able to manipulate our memories both of current events involving Retrospec, and of what are presumed to be past events?
That sounds like something out of a sci-fi novel, rather than real life.
