[They probably do have a very small one-person oven... Honestly, this apartment looks like it was made for one person and they just decided to make it a two-person one.
BUT ANYWAY.
Kashuu'd be reluctant to admit it aloud, but the kitchen smells really good now and he's mad about it. So instead he just focuses on the task at hand - showing off a neatly tailored jacket with tartan trim around the cuffs and for the lining. He sets the hanger up on one of the kitchen chairs so Yato can come take a look! On a whole the design is surprisingly subdued rather than flashy - or maybe not surprisingly, since Kashuu himself dresses somewhat conservatively despite his flashy personality. What is notable is the tailoring work, which is very crisp and neatly done.]
[ Yato shakes the water off his hands willy-nilly before hopping over to get a closer look at the jacket. It's a lot classier than he expected... And he knows enough about sewing to understand that such a polished look is difficult to achieve. ]
You really made this?! I'm impressed!
[ His praise is sincere, as is the open admiration on his face. At least Yato gives credit where it's due... ]
[Oh... Oh. WELL. He'd actually been expecting some snarky remark or half-hearted compliment and had been semi-prepared to defend his work, but...
That's.
Actually really nice?!
Incredibly, Yato's managed to trigger a tsun moment from the tsuntsun, since he's so taken off guard that he's almost embarrassed...]
Of course I did—! I'm really serious about fashion, y'know! And if I'm gonna be serious about something, I gotta give it my all, so...
[SO!! Behold, the product of Kashuu actually treating something seriously. The pockets are lined with patterned fabric and the buttons are all perfectly aligned, it truly is a labor of love.]
[And there goes his .5 seconds of tsun, replaced instead by his usual irritation. He's also watching very closely as Yato examines the garment, though wiping his hands off first was enough of a signal that he Cares Enough to not mess it up.]
...That's a mock-up for my term project. I wanted to try out the new hand stitches I'd learned this semester and mix it with some patterning techniques I don't usually use. So it's not the final product, but it still turned out really nice. I'm keeping it as a fall-back coat.
[Like, in case all of his really nice ones are dirty, or he needs to go somewhere that might destroy his jacket but he's still gotta look trendy.]
[Just a vague humming noise in response to the first question. IT SURE IS. He goes all out...
As for the second, and the not-question demand:]
I can make anything. [Kashuu "say anything with enough confidence and someday it will become true" Kiyomitsu.] But would you even wear anything I made? Jerseys aren't really my thing.
... I'm not replacing the jersey! It's a signature look!
[ He is really inexplicably attached to this jersey for some reason... also it's sturdy and fits him perfectly despite him literally finding it in the middle of the street one day, along with his weirdly perfect boots. ]
It feels like something's missing, though. I can't put my finger on it. So I figure a fashion nut like you would have an idea of what might spruce my ensemble up a bit.
[Ah, so Yato was in the jersey fanclub all along...
Anyway Kashuu will contemplate this for a hot second and even bite his tongue on the low-hanging fruit of a retort that is "you're missing more than one something, buddy".
He's still rude though, since the first thing he says is:] Well, it's not like I'll ever turn down a challenge. I'll come up with something new for you and figure out a cute accessory that would even work for a jersey soldier.
[ He does not miss the rudeness of calling it a challenge, but he'll let it slide... since it sounds like Kashuu is taking the job on!! Free clothes, yeahyeah ]
Whoo! Thanks, Kashuu! In exchange, I'll share dinner with you!
[ He probably would've wound up sharing anyway, but now Kashuu can have as much as he wants...!! ]
Okay... and I paid for the ingredients myself, you know!
[ It was... slightly expensive... because he went for fresh ingredients all the way. These are his money priorities. But hopefully it was all worth it! He goes to check on the pot in the oven. It looks like the sauce thickened nicely... Okay!! He takes the pot out and uncovers it fully, letting the savory aroma of the dish waft throughout the apartment. Sprinkle it with chopped parsley for garnish and... voila! The rice should be about done too... ]
I was hoping Yasu would be back by the time I was done, but it should still be good later...
[Oh... WELL. Well, damn, Yato just goes all out for cooking. And it shows because holy moly, their entire apartment smells delicious. He imagines this is what it's like to be on the set of a cooking show, except he actually gets to eat the food at the end.]
That... smells really good. And it looks pretty. [Why does he look like he's just stuffed a lemon in his mouth then, damn.] Where'd you even learn how to cook?
[At the mention of Yamato though, he'll glance toward the clock, and almost without pause:]
If he's this late, he's probably out whacking someone with a bokken again. Give him another hour or two.
[OH HE WILL but only when no one's around to see that he actually enjoys it. Anyway:]
Don't just come and go like you own the place...
[HE SAYS, but doesn't actually sound angry. Mostly he's just baffled, and he'll watch until Yato moseys off into the sunset with their tupperware and his chicken.]

Here. This is the most recent thing I finished.

[ Just in case anyone thinks Yato's forgotten their roots... He wipes his hands on his pants before lifting parts of the jacket for inspection. ]
I've tried making clothes before, but I could never get the seams this clean... What did you make this for?

[ Kashuu's pretty good... This is what happens when someone dedicates their soul to a craft. Yato can respect that... ]
Hey, what else can you make? Make me something.

You would've had to anyway, that's basically the fee for using our kitchen.
[Because Yato is Yamato's friend, not his! So he doesn't have to give out use of the kitchen with no strings attached!!]
A-ny-way, gimme a week or two and I'll have something for you.

Work! Let's see... I don't have an hour or two to wait around, so I guess I'll just go.
[ He roots around for some tupperware or something, spoons himself up some rice and chicken, and starts heading for the exit. Just like that... ]
